Situation 2 : Sample Dialogue

The parts in red are the compliments you’ve been asked to write down.

先生：田中君、テスト勉強進んでますか？  Tanaka-kun, tesuto benkyou susunde masuka?  ‘Tanaka-kun, how is your test preparation going?’

学生：ちょっとつまずいていたんですけれど、今日の先生の講義を聞いてだいぶわかってきました。  Chotto tsumazuite itan desu keredo, kyouno senseino kougiwo kite daibu wakatte kimashita.  ‘I was a bit troubled, but your lecture today cleared things up.’

先生：そう、それはよかった。それじゃあテストに向けてがんばってね。  Sou, sorewa yokatta.  Sorejaa tesutoni mukete gannbattene.  ‘Oh, that’s good.  Good luck studying for the test then.’

学生：ありがとうございます。  Arigatou gozaimasu.  ‘Thank you.’
