Sample Dialogue 2

The parts in red are the responses to compliments you’ve been asked to write down.

A: わー、英語パーフェクトですね。  Waa, eigo paafekuto desune.   ‘Wow, your English is perfect.’

B: いやー、いや、そんなことないんですよ、全然。   Iyaa, iya, sonnakoto nain desuyo, zenzen.  ‘Oh, no, not at all.’

A: いや、ほんとに、ほんとに。すごい上手ですよ。  Iya, hontoni, hontoni.  Sugoi jouzu desuyo.  ‘Yes, really.  It’s excellent.’

B: いや、でも、しょっちゅう間違えるんですよ、ほんとにもう。  Iya, demo, shocchuu machigaerun desuyo, hontoni mou.  ‘Well, but I often make mistakes.’
