The parts in red are the responses to compliments you’ve been asked to write down.

A: いやー、ゆかちゃん、ほんとに英語うまいね。  Iyaa, Yuka-chan, hontoni eigo umaine.  ‘Yuka-chan, your English is really good.’

B: 英語だけは、意外にまあまあなんだけど、他がねえ。  Eigodakewa, igaini maamaa nanda kedo, hokaganee.  ‘Unexpectedly my English alone is fairly good, but other (subjects) are (not).’
