Sample Dialogue 1

Your friend suggests going out to dinner together. You say that you’d like to go, but you have very little money with you.  Your friend says, “Ah, don’t worry. I’ll treat you today.” Your friend takes you to a very nice restaurant – a much more expensive one than the noodle restaurants you usually go to. You have a wonderful meal.  Your friend pays, and you get up to leave.

A: ああ、今日本当にごちそうさま。  Aa, kyou houtouni gochisou sama.

B: ううん、ぜんぜん。気にしないで。私の方から誘ったんだし。 

Uun, zenzen.  Kinishinaide.  Watashino hou kara sasottandashi.

A: ほんとにでも、ありがとね。ごめんね。  Hontoni demo, arigatone.  Gomenne.

B: いいって。ほんと、気にしないで。  Iitte.  Honto, kini shinaide.

A: 今度は私がおごるから。ありがとう。  Kondowa watashiga ogoru kara.  Arigatou.
