Look again at the Wisconsin graphic showing the relationship of the 5 Cs of the World-Readiness Standards (graphic at right).

Notice that the Performance Assessment is identified in the center of the graphic, reflecting three aspects of performance: Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Communication. To assess progress in communicating in the target language, evidence must be collected for each of the three modes.

Each mode will be discussed separately in this module followed by a discussion of the rubrics that the teachers in the video series designed for their performance assessments.
