Throughout this module, you have seen many examples of different kinds of compliment sequences. At this point, we will look at some of the social factors that influence compliment strategies; these are the sociocultural strategies you will need for compliment sequences.

There are numerous social factors which must be taken into account in any communicative encounter (e.g., social distance, power, and degree of imposition).
