Fala Tour

After you watch:

How did the participants in the video make sense of a text written in a language they did not know? What linguistic and non-linguistic clues did they draw on?

Were you “taken in” by the phrase Bill showed at the beginning? Do you agree that reading is an active process?

Were you surprised that the learners could extract information from a text in a completely unfamiliar language? Why, or why not?
How can activities be designed so that they draw on the practices of good readers?
