Unit 5: Using Pictures, Part B

Before you watch:

Have you used photographs in your classroom? If so, what kinds of activities or language use resulted from them?

Take a look at these pictures. What ideas do you have for using them in the classroom?

After you watch:

What new ideas did you learn from the participants?

What different kinds of language are required by having the learners combine all the photographs to make a single story?

At one point, Bill emphasizes the importance of connecting the pictures to the students’ own lives, experiences, and ideas. Do you see this happening in the story activity? What advantages do these kinds of connections offer for the language classroom?
